Natalia Borodina, a mother-of -one, was 35 years old when she went on a vacation in the Dominican Republic. There, she would make a fatal mistake — one that was caught on video. Sadly, it began like too many others. A camera was rolling in a moving car when one bad decision changed everything.

The Russian woman was originally from Zlatoust, an industrial city in the Urals, but then moved to regional capital Chelyabinsk, before relocating to Moscow. Just before taking her tropical vacation, Natalia was working in Cannes, France as an estate agent, selling properties to wealthy Russian buyers, according to Daily Mail.

Natalia seemingly had it all: A great career, a young son, a gorgeous face, and a sexy body. The latter, however, would be her downfall during her vacation in the Dominican Republic. While riding in a red Kia on a highway near Punta Cana, Natalia decided to show off her breasts for passersby as well as the camera while her friend recorded her putting on a show.

After taking off her bikini top, Natalia played it up for the camera. Her friend, later identified as 32-year-old Ivanna Boirachuk, drove and recorded Natalia on her mobile phone as the topless woman hauled the top half of her body out of the car window. Naked except for a pair of bikini bottoms, the happy woman swayed, danced, and laughed as her upper half hung out of the passenger window of the moving car. She was blissfully unaware that danger was approaching.

As she giggled, Natalia gave the camera a sexy look as she playfully stuck her finger in her mouth. Rational viewers of the footage find their hearts racing, not from the sultry performance but rather the dangerous situation the woman put herself in. Many find themselves fearful she’s going to fall from the window, but something much worse is coming.

At one point, Natalia appears to slip as she looks through the windshield from the outside. She lets out a squeal, partially returning to the car only briefly before letting herself hang from the window once again. With her head tilted back, her eyes towards the sky, and her arms open wide and hanging free, the seemingly blissful display quickly takes a shocking turn.

The above clip cuts off just before Natalia Borodina horrifically smashed her head against the post of a street sign while hanging out of the car window, according to Heavy. Although it was not seen in the footage above, be warned, it is featured in the images as well as a news clip below.

Natalia hit the passing object with the full force of her body while in the moving car, and it was caught on camera. The effects were devastating. Although she did not die on impact, she succumbed to “serious injuries” after being rushed to a hospital.

In a report from a foreign outlet, seen below, not only is the impact of the accident shown in its entirety but so is the aftermath. In the graphic footage, you hear the screams following the impact and see the car’s passenger side filled with Natalia’s blood.

In addition, viewers are shown an image of her after the accident. Although it’s unconfirmed, she does not appear to be alive when the photo was taken. Be warned, it’s all very difficult to see. But, it serves a very important purpose.

“The woman was having fun demonstrating her naked breasts while her companion drove the car,” reported Moskovsky Komsomolets, according to a translation from Daily Mail. The driver was originally detained on suspicion that alcohol may have been involved. However, according to The Sun, police later released Ivanna Boirachuk, clearing her “of any wrongdoing.”

Sadly, conflicting reports say that Natalia’s child, a boy around the age of eight, may have been on holiday with her when tragedy struck. Others say he was in Russia with Natalia’s sister at the time of her death. Luckily, either way, he was not in the car to witness the accident involving his mother, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Natalia Borodina’s family says she will be remembered as a caring daughter and a good mother. Sadly, that’s not how she will be remembered on the internet. Instead, she will be known as the fun-loving, uninhibited woman who died an appalling death after taking things entirely too far.

Susan Shannon, a 52-year-old blogger living in Everett, Washington, posted an article with serious accusations against a US Army colonel. According to the allegations published in Shannon’s blog, she was sexually assaulted by Army Colonel David “Wil” Riggins in 1986 while they were both cadets at West Point, the United States Military Academy in New York.

Shannon alleged that Riggins raped her while driving her home after she got drunk at a party in 1986. Riggins offered her a lift, and when she passed out in the vehicle, he had sex with her unconscious body, according to her claims. She dropped out of West Point soon after as Riggins went on to have an illustrious career in the Army, rising to the rank of colonel.

Rather than come forward and report the incident at the time, Shannon says she kept quiet because of the army’s “code of silence.” Even during her exit interview, Shannon claims the pressure in the army to keep quiet and not report her peers kept her from mentioning the alleged rape. But, nearly 3 decades later, she decided to tell her allegedly painful secret.

Shannon says she was inspired to speak about her alleged experience after reading about several high profile convictions for sexual assaults in the military. She didn’t go to the authorities, though. Instead, she took to writing about it for her blog Short Little Rebel, where she named Riggins as her rapist. And, the timing was suspicious.

Susan Shannon published the harsh allegations against Riggins just after it was announced that the colonel had been nominated for a significant promotion. Of course, Shannon denied having any knowledge of Riggins’ nomination at the time she penned her blog, saying she was unaware of it until she was contacted by Army officials investigating her post.

Almost immediately, Riggins’ successful military career was turned upside down by the claims. The combat veteran from Alexandria, whose career included tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was on the cusp of being appointed to brigadier general when Army leaders saw Shannon’s rape allegation on her blog, according to Daily Mail. Riggins’ promotion was quickly snatched away as his name was dragged through the mud.

The decorated colonel vehemently denied all of the accusations. “I did not rape Susan Shannon. I did not sexually assault Susan Shannon. Every aspect of (her) story is verifiably false,” Riggins told ABC 7. The military launched an investigation and found insufficient evidence to pursue rape charges against Riggins, but the damage was already done. The investigation effectively destroyed his military career, forcing him to retire from the Army

After the allegations cost him his career, he decided to fight back. According to Riggins, Shannon had decided to play judge and jury, all on her own, when she posted the false allegations in her blog, and he wasn’t going to let her get away with ruining his life. So, Army Colonel Wil Riggins sued Susan Shannon for defamation, saying her claims cost him his promotion.

The jury ruled in the colonel’s favor, ordering the blogger to pay a total of $8.4 million in damages to Riggins: $3.4 million in compensatory damages for injury to his reputation and lost wages, and $5 million in punitive damages “to make sure nothing like this will ever happen again,” according to The Washington Post. Of course, Shannon is not happy with the outcome. “I feel like I’m a financial slave for the rest of my life,” she said. “I told the truth in my article and at trial.”

The jury, which consisted of 4 women and 3 men, felt differently. They found the case to be pretty cut and dry with “no doubt in anybody’s mind the colonel had made his case. He was believable,” according to the jurors, who felt the blogger was not as trustworthy. “Honestly, we thought who was telling the truth was too obvious to be discussing. We held a vote, and everybody believed the colonel,” one juror explained. “The only argument was how big the damages were going to be.”

Although Riggins says the jury took the right steps toward restoring his life, you really can’t put a price tag on what he went through. Calling the years-long journey his family has been on a “nightmare,” Riggins said, “The large dollar amount is meaningless. All I was looking for was the opportunity to be vindicated, to set the record straight, to take every action to get my reputation back.”

“People really understand the value that a reputation has,” Tom Clare, a defamation lawyer with experience in similar cases, said. “Especially in today’s Internet environment when even a blog post or a tweet can have such a broad impact. It can literally go around the world. And, if something out there is false, juries are prepared to issue significant awards,” he added. “We have tons of clients who want their reputation back,” Clare noted. “What they really want is a public vindication of the falsity.”

Summer Rose Kazzee had her infant son removed from her care after he was starved. At 8 weeks old, the baby was emaciated, weighing less than his birth weight. At the conclusion of a two-day trial, Kazzee was convicted of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor for starving her newborn son. Although the charge was punishable by up to six years in prison, Kazzee was sentenced to only three.

Some thought the soft sentence was still too harsh after learning about Kazzee’s own childhood. “Under questioning by her attorney, Clay Janske, Kazzee described how she was home-schooled after being bullied in public school and basically had a ninth-grade education. She also revealed she was raped and sexually molested from the age of 3 until she was 10 by a man who was later convicted of raping her and sentenced to two life terms,” The Sentinel-Record reported.

While Kazzee was ultimately found fit for trial, Janske said she was “low functioning” and suffered Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, leaving him shocked by the prison sentence. “I realize Summer was a terrible mother, but to send her to prison after the jury heard about her life? I put on the evidence of her being raped most of her life and that she had no education and how pitiful she is,” he said in disbelief. “For them to give jail time was absolutely heartless.”

The sentence was recommended by jurors after an hour of deliberation. At the time, Arkansas was one of only a few states where juries decide sentences. Disagreeing with their decision, Janske said it may be time for Arkansas to follow the majority of states in only allowing judges to decide sentences, but it seems the jurors had it right. Only three years after starving her son, the 22-year-old Arkansas mother was arrested again when her 20-month-old daughter Lucy Weber died in her care, according to Metro.

Rather than serving her three-year sentence, Kazzee was paroled about eight months later, giving her the opportunity to harm one of her twins, who were born after she was arrested for endangering her son. After being called to a home in Hot Springs for reports of an unresponsive child, police arrived to find personnel from the Hot Springs Fire Department performing CPR on Lucy.

First responders continued CPR “well after LifeNet arrived,” according to The Arkansas Democrat Gazzette, but their attempts to revive the toddler were unsuccessful. Lucy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, and once again, Summer Rose Kazzee would be accused of causing the harm that came to her child under her “care.”

During an interview with detectives, Kazzee said she tried to put the twins down for a nap around 3 pm. When the little girl refused to stay in bed, Kazzee put her in a car seat on the floor. She said she strapped both the top and bottom straps of the seat and her daughter began “rocking herself to sleep,” so she left the twins in the back bedroom, closed the door, and went to the living room at the front of the house.

Kazzee said she went to check on her children an hour and a half later. Her daughter was rocking and “even clapping her hands,” she said. After another thirty minutes, Kazzee said she “jumped off the couch,” having realized she couldn’t hear her daughter. She told detectives she ran into the bedroom and found Lucy with the car seat buckle in her throat.

As detectives doubted the child’s ability to unbuckle the seat herself, Kazzee finally admitted that she “may not have buckled it all the way” and that the car seat was used by her daughter when she was an infant, People reported. Kazzee said Lucy had never unbuckled the seat before and that she had tied a blanket around the bottom buckle so the toddler “would not mess with it.”

The medical examiner measured the straps and the length of the victim and determined the child could not have unbuckled it herself. Kazzee was arrested on negligent homicide charges, according to Garland County Jail records. During her trial, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Kara Petro noted that Lucy was placed in an infant car seat for which “she was a little too big,” The Sentinel-Record reported.

The seat was only buckled at the top, according to Petro, allowing Lucy to move around and “scoot down to the bottom.” The toddler got the buckle across her neck where it “put pressure on the blood vessels” and “restricted the blood flow” so she was “strangled in a sense,” the prosecutor explained, adding that Kazzee was negligent in leaving the child unattended for so long.

Facing only misdemeanor charges for Lucy’s death, Kazzee pleaded guilty. She was sentenced to just seven months in jail and given credit for time served. This is the second pathetic injustice where Summer Rose Kazzee is concerned. Had she been kept behind bars for her three-year sentence, her daughter would still be alive. Instead, Kazzee was freed, her twins were left in her “care,” and an innocent child is now dead. The parole board should be ashamed.

“I’m raising the kids with knowledge of firearms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands,” Hart wrote, explaining why his daughter is shooting and why he thinks knowledge of firearms is important in his family. To drive home his point, he concluded his caption with the hashtag “#knowledgeispower.”

In the video, Willow, who’s wearing ear protection, asks her dad, “Can I go?” Hart responds, telling her to fire at will when she’s ready. “Wait, is the safety on?” she inquires after hesitating. Then, she goes on to fire the rifle, but unsurprisingly, there were plenty of people who weren’t impressed. Instead, they were eager to call Carey Hart an irresponsible father for allowing his 7-year-old daughter to use a gun.

Carey Hart quickly shut down his critics with his overt support of the Second Amendment after one naysayer commented, “There is absolutely no reason why a three-year-old needs to be shooting a gun. It is just indoctrinating the toxic American culture that guns are somehow ‘cool’ and a ‘hobby.’”

“That is your opinion. I never slam people for speaking their opinion. I enjoy debate and shedding light on subjects that are sensitive like this,” Hart responded. “Now when you disrespect my country or ‘culture’ I feel I have every right to get nasty,” he continued. “I think this is an extremely important topic of education,” he added later, noting that he also planned to purchase a bow for his daughter.

After another Instagram user said Hart should be afraid of his daughter losing control of the weapon and shooting him in the face in error, he simply fired back, “You’re completely ignorant,” according to The Blaze. When another questioned his support of guns as a celebrity and warned that people “mimic you,” Hart made it clear that’s exactly what he hoped for.

“I hope they do mimic me! I hope they spend quality time with their kids, teach them life skills, and education,” Hart responded, according to USA Today. “I’m not sure where you live, but in America firearms are legal and not going away. So I choose to embrace it. Take the taboo out. Educate them so they don’t become a statistic. Many forms of shooting are an OLYMPIC sport.”

Creating controversy among parents wasn’t anything new for Carey Hart. He’s actually had a string of incidents that raised ire from parents, including being criticized for allegedly exposing the public to his sick son when he had contagious hand-foot-and-mouth disease, putting his son Jameson on a dirt bike as a young toddler, and threatening to shoot California wildfire looters “on site.”

It was 2:15 p.m. on a Friday when Westside Elementary School kindergarten teacher Ginger Taylor witnessed two men walk onto the playground full of kids. One of the men grabbed a 5-year-old girl and tried to take off with her when Taylor chased after them in a sprint. Little did she know what she was inserting herself into — and it would ultimately earn her a standing ovation from the entire community.

The teacher approached the men and tried to stop them from taking the girl. The men pushed her down and were able to take off after putting the child in a car. However, Taylor was able to get the license plate information and car description belonging to suspects, and she alerted the school resource officer. Where that pursuit would take them was a mother’s worst nightmare.

The vehicle information was quickly reported to police, and a “be on the lookout” alert was sent to the Sheriff’s Office, along with regional law enforcement. The brazen child abductors were heading to another location, where something far more sinister awaited them. But, officers caught up with the culprits ten minutes after receiving the first call, right before the men boarded a plane at Valdosta Regional Airport, headed for Mississippi, WCTV reported.

The two men, identified as 33-year-old Michael McCormick and 36-year-old Scott Stapp, were immediately apprehended. McCormick is said to be a noncustodial parent of the girl, and Stapp is a friend of the kidnapping mastermind. The little girl was returned to her mother, and Taylor has since received praise for her courage and quick thinking.

The Lowndes County Board of Education honored Ginger Taylor during a board of education meeting. In a room full of people, Taylor received an extended standing ovation from everyone in attendance, thanking her for averting a child abduction. But, she said that she didn’t deserve the credit — instead, all glory belongs to God.

“I’m honored to be recognized, but I’d like to give the glory to God,” Taylor said to an overflow crowd, where there was hardly a dry eye in the room. “He was there for me, protecting me, the child, every teacher on the playground, all my coworkers, and without Him, the child wouldn’t be here.”

“We’ve set a protocol in the event something like this happens,” Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said. “I certainly wasn’t expecting it to happen as soon as it did. But, I certainly couldn’t have had a better witness than Ms. Taylor. She passed the information on to our SRO, they got in touch with 911, we dumped everybody out of the sheriff’s office. Everybody stopped what they were doing and focused on the school and the surrounding part of the county,” he added.

“She gave us the description of the car, we knew what the driver looked like, we knew the tag number, and that’s very unusual to have all that information,” Sheriff Prine continued. “Within 15 minutes, we had him cuffed and the child in custody.”

Michael Ray McCormick was charged with kidnapping, simple battery on a school official, and disruption of a school. Scott Stapp was an accomplice to the crime and also faced charges for his part in it.

Ginger Taylor is an asset to the public school system and a blessing to every child and educator on that campus. This kindergarten teacher taught the country a lesson with her actions that afternoon, and her response rightfully earned praise. God was allowed on that campus that day because He was with Taylor and those children, and everyone is safe because of it. She was in the right place at the right time, and it was not a coincidence.

Lillian Waldron, a 10-year-old little girl with developmental delays, attends Langlade Elementary School in Green Bay, Wisconsin. To get to and from school, she rides a bus with other students who also have special needs, sitting in a child safety seat with a five-point harness directly behind the bus driver.

One would think such an arrangement would provide the utmost safety for the nonverbal little girl, but her parents found out that sadly wasn’t the case. When Lillian, affectionately called Lilly by her parents, came home on a Monday afternoon, she ran to her mother crying, holding her arm, and was inconsolable. Lilly doesn’t speak. So, her mom didn’t know what was wrong. She would find out, however, when she took off her daughter’s shirt and uncovered a grisly sight.

“She loves baths and that’s soothing to her. So, I brought her home and I was getting her ready for the bath. I took her sweatshirt off, and that’s when I noticed,” recalled Lynn Waldron-Moehle, Lillian’s mother. The disabled child’s tiny upper arms were covered in major bruises, indicating the torture she was forced to endure as her safety seat prevented her from getting away from the abuse.

While sitting right behind the bus driver, Lillian Waldron was repeatedly bitten by another student, unable to tell her tormenter to stop. But, although Lilly can’t speak, she does make sounds when she’s in pain — sounds the bus driver should have heard and investigated. Instead, the driver did nothing to help. That’s why her parents are speaking out.

“The seat was right behind the bus driver and he couldn’t hear anything going on or see anything? Come on,” Chad Waldron, Lillian’s dad, said in disbelief. Making matters worse, the incident was caught on video that’s been described as “gruesome and horrifying.”

According to a representative for Lamers Bus Lines, all Green Bay Area Public Schools buses have video recording devices on them and bus drivers are allowed to step in if an altercation happens. But, that’s seemingly not what happened during the incident involving Lillian Waldron.

The school district said they are investigating the video from the bus, but according to the child’s mother, the principal already watched it, and he was disturbed by what he saw. “He said it was gruesome and horrifying to look at. That the girl was brutally biting my daughter’s arm,” Lynn said.

“Several administrators and myself immediately reached out to the family,” a statement from school district Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld said. “[We] met with them to address their concerns and provide support to ensure the physical and emotional wellbeing of our student.”

Ensuring that wellbeing is as easy as having an adult watch over the kids, according to the Lillian Waldron’s parents. “If you can’t keep an eye on these kids and they are special needs, then you need to bring somebody in, you know, to be watching if the bus driver can’t do it,” Chad said.

“I would like to see this not ever happen to another child. No other child needs to go through what Lilly went through,” Lynn added. So far, the school has made two changes to prevent the incident from happening again. First, the student who bit Lilly is no longer allowed at the elementary school. Secondly, Lilly will ride to and from school in a van with two adults going forward.

But, are these solutions enough? Shouldn’t someone also be held responsible for neglecting their duties, whether that’s the school or the bus driver? Yes, the driver has to watch the road, but he or she also has a responsibility to ensure the safety of all children on the bus.

If this wasn’t possible for any reason, the employee had a duty to let make the school aware that the situation was not safe. If this was an out-of-the-ordinary exception to the usual ride, the driver should have pulled over and addressed the issue as a priority — just like we would expect them to do for a child experiencing a medical emergency.

Instead, the bus driver’s only focus seemed to be on driving. As a child undoubtedly shrieked in pain right behind the person responsible for keeping her safe, her cries were ignored, and the result was so much worse than it had to be. Rather than being bitten once, which is admittedly bad enough, she was bitten again and again until she was covered in bruises that visually represent only a fraction of the intense pain and fear she must have endured.

An aid for the bus sounds like a viable solution, but many complain it would be expensive for taxpayers who fund the district. However, so is a lawsuit when the lack of oversight and supervision leads to a preventable injury or worse. If another child can bite this little girl to this extent without someone intervening, what else could they have done? And, what if it was your child? What price do you put on their safety?

Kevin Rojas was just 19 years old when he tried to kill an undercover Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer who was in his car with his teenage son. When the off-duty officer, who was taking his son to school, saw Rojas driving erratically, the cop decided to make a traffic stop. Rojas got out of his car and shot through the windshield of the officer’s vehicle, striking him four times. Luckily, the officer’s teenage son was unhurt in the incident. The officer, however, was struck in the face, stomach, and hand.

The wounded police officer, even after taking a bullet to the head, managed to fire back as Rojas ran away. The thug stole a truck and raced back to his neighborhood, barricading himself inside his home after crashing the truck at a neighbor’s house. Rojas was shot multiple times through a glass door, hit in the torso, leg, and hand, after police officers said he wouldn’t drop his gun, according to Daily Mail.

A smug and smiling Rojas was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, attempted manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, grand theft auto, and fleeing. Circuit Judge James Daniel sentenced him to the maximum prison sentence for each of the crimes he committed. So, Rojas not only received life in prison but also three 15-year sentences for the lesser charges.

The judge told Rojas he struggled with the implication of what happened the day the teen decided to attempt to kill the officer in cold blood. He said he could not comprehend how Rojas could arrive at the decision to open fire with an intent to kill. As the judge read Rojas’ sentence, he said, “I’m pretty sure Mr. Rojas doesn’t understand what the rest of his life means.”

If Rojas didn’t have an idea what life in prison meant, the cop he tried to kill gave him a clue. The police officer decided to taunt the young man who shot at him and his son by giving him a going away gift. As Rojas was appearing in court for the attempted murder of the unidentified officer, the cop had a few words for the thug before giving him his special surprise.

“I will take those bullets instead of a fellow officer or innocent bystander,” the officer said. “If there was a coward on that day, it was Kevin Rojas,” he told the court before addressing Rojas directly. “When I brought the fight back, you ran like a coward.” Then, the officer told Rojas about the gift he had for him. “So, I got a little gift for you,” he said. As the officer slammed a bottle of KY Jelly lubricant on the witness stand in front him, he added, “You’re going to need a lot of this where you’re going little man.” Although Rojas was not allowed to take the officer’s gift with him to prison, the message the officer sent was clear.

The officer’s gift received mixed reviews from social media users. While many applauded the officer for being brave enough to confront the man who attempted to kill him, others criticized him for taunting a criminal, despite the fact that the thug tried to murder the policeman and his son.

“Too bad the cop [didn’t] take out his weapon in the courtroom and kill that piece of s**t right there save taxpayers a lot of money,” one Facebook user commented while another added, “I shouldn’t laugh, but that is priceless. It’s good the creep didn’t kill anyone and that the teenage son wasn’t injured.”

“Good for that cop, a very appropriate going away present for the thug. Awesome,” another wrote while yet another commented, “I don’t blame the cop. This clown wrecked his life for nothing. The judge did the right thing. This nut cannot be loose. When he is 60, if he lives that long, he may be better. If they can let him out then, maybe. I would not lose much sleep over it for now.”

However, the critics called into question the cop’s professionalism. “A real professional that officer. You may be frustrated however you have no integrity nor honor in your use of a gimmick, stupid one at best, during your speech at the sentencing of this thug. Hope the department sees what you really are,” one reader commented.

Others focused more on a harsher punishment for Rojas. “A life sentence makes no sense. Anyone dangerous enough to be imprisoned for life should simply be swiftly terminated instead of remaining a drag on society for years to come,” one reader wrote.

Kevin Rojas’ family reportedly fled the courtroom in tears after his sentencing since they surely understand the implications of the young man’s sentence, even if he was too ignorant to fully grasp what “life” is just yet. Luckily, time has a way of bringing about an understanding for people, and Rojas, who has a lot of time ahead of him, is no different — only his will be a very tormented reality. But, I don’t think too many people are going to sympathize with him.

Ryan Bray was in his vehicle at a Bradenton, Florida insection when a panhandler approached and asked for some cash, according to Fox 13. “He reached his arms inside my vehicle, resting them and said, ‘Hey, do you have any money?’ I said, ‘No, but I have one better for you,’” Bray recalled. Instead of giving the guy a handout, Bray offered the panhandler a job.

Bray — who works for Bray Remodeling, his family’s business — said he’d pay the man $15 an hour to do yard work at his house, which was just down the road. Rather than being grateful for the opportunity to earn an honest living and taking advantage of the offer, the panhandler didn’t take too kindly to the proposal. “He said, ‘Absolutely not,’” Bray explained.

The man didn’t just decline the offer, though. Bray said the panhandler “started getting belligerent and cursing” as he refused the offer to actually earn some money through work, and he allegedly even went so far as to kick Bray’s Jeep as he told him to leave. Bray drove away, but he’d soon return to the scene of the rude exchange with a sign of his own.

“I offered him $15 an hour to do yard work for me and he refused. If we as a community stop paying them, they will leave our neighborhood,” Bray’s sign read. And, he spent three hours along the side of the road with the vagrant, holding that sign high for all to see as the man attempted to beg passersby for money. But, that’s not all.

According to Bray, the panhandler threatened to rape his mother and kill his wife, all because he wouldn’t just give him some money. Bray was undeterred by the threats and determined to warn others. So, rather than staying away, he returned to fight back against the aggressive panhandler once more.

With a local reporter in tow, Bray joined the panhandler who got angry about his offer at the intersection of 75th Street W and Manatee Avenue W again, but this time, he was there with cameras rolling. Unsurprisingly, the unnamed panhandler wasn’t happy to see Bray return with his sign or to be questioned by the reporters who had joined him.

The transient confronted Bray and the news crew, claiming he did nothing wrong and saying that he was the one being harassed. The panhandler also used foul language as Bray stood near him along the street, but he still managed to get money from at least one driver. “You can’t shut me down, brother,” he said after his panhandling victory.

In another clip from WFLA News Channel 8, the unnamed vagrant showed even more agitation and aggression towards reporters on the busy street corner, where he approached cars constantly. “Get the f***ing camera out of my face, brother,” he said. “Quit following me!” he yelled, telling reporters to leave. And, it’s easy to see why Bray, a businessman, felt his community was being bullied by panhandlers:

Ryan Bray said he understands the plight of homelessness but wants the panhandling to end. He hopes for stricter ordinances against it and for drivers to stop handing cash through their cracked windows so that panhandlers leave and stop harassing drivers. “I can’t have my 13-year-old daughter and my wife driving with their windows up and being berated the entire time if [panhandlers] don’t get money,” he said.

Adell Erozer, executive director for Turning Points, a nonprofit that assists the homeless, admitted that some people make a living off of panhandling and discouraged people from giving money to panhandlers. “It’s hard to tell the difference between someone who is really homeless and somebody who is out there just panhandling,” she said, adding advice for those who want to help the homeless:

According to the Turning Points executive director, if you want to help, you should give money directly to organizations that are helping the homeless and not to those begging for money on the street. “The best thing to do if we all really want to get rid of panhandlers is to don’t give to panhandlers,” Erozer said, explaining that giving to panhandlers encourages the behavior.

As the saying goes, “Give a man a fish, he will eat today, but teach a man to fish, and he will eat forever.” What do you do when the man has no desire to fish for himself and would rather spend his time begging for your catch instead? Ryan Bray might have found a viable solution, simply holding a sign to warn others as he encourages panhandlers and the community to seek a hand up, not a handout.
